  1 Outward appearance and basic specification of the production 

1.1 General 

   LCD KVM is a kind of 1U equipment that integrate the LCD monitor, keyboard and touchpad mouse. It can be installed to standard 19” rack. More than 85% of rack space can be saved. It can be connected to one or more computers to accomplish the operation of monitor, keyboard and mouse. (it can be directly connected to 8/16 computers or 136 computers through cascade to accomplish the operation of monitor, keyboard and mouse). Support IBM,COMPAQ,HP,DELL, Lenovo,original server and industrial control computer of Yan Hua, Yan Xiang, Da Zhong, Wei Da, AI Xun etc, as well as Sun Server. Windows、NT、UNIX、LINUX、NOVELL、DOS、Win2000、WinXP operation is also supported.

2. Basic specification

• The LCD monitor control platform that integrate the functions keyboard/ mouse/ LCD monitor is called 3 in 1 control platform.
• The LCD monitor control platform that integrate the functions keyboard/ mouse/ LCD monitor/switch is called 4 in 1 control platform. 
• 1U high, all steel structure, can be installed to 19” standard rack 
• Can be directly connected to computer or KVM switch to operated one to more computers
• 15/17/19” LCD monitor, high brightness, high clarity, high resolving

2. Installation 

   LCD KVM control platform satisfied the requirements of 19” standard racks. Installed from front. The back hanging part should be insert to the channel. After that, lock the back and front hanging part. It can be installed to 400mm to 810mm deep racks, if the suitable length of the back hanging part is chose.

  3 Operation steps

 3.1 open the control platform

    LCD KVM control platform is grounded properly

    The KVM signal wires and power input of LCD KVM control platform is properly connected

    Release the lock screw on the front panel of KVM control platform

   Pull out the LCD KVM control platform until the guider is locked. Open the front panel. The LCD screen can be opened to 120 degree. Please adjust the screen to suitable angel that easy the operation. ( see illustration 5)

3.2 Operation of the screen

3.3 Operation menu of switch

   Double Click left <ctrl> key within 2 seconds to open the menu. The hot key menu will be shown on the screen. Tri click left <ctrl> key within 2 seconds, the operation menu of KVM will be shown on the screen, the name and situation of the computer that is connected will be shown on the screen 

   Choose computer, the number key of corresponding port will turn red. The number indicator on the upper right corner of the menu will also turn red.

   If the computer name shows green, it means the computer is under working condition. If it shows white, it means there is no signal. When the menu is open, the color of menu is also changed. press<PageUp> and <PageDown> key to browser the other 8 computers. 

   use“↑”、“↓”key，“1~8”or“A~H” to choose the computer，press<Enter>。 After choosing press <Escape> key to confirm。When Exit menu。The situation window shows the computer name and the working condition 。 

   The triangle legend （ ）at the right of the computer name shows the corresponding port cascaded to a lower level switch. The number on the left side of the triangle legend shows the number of port of lower level switch. For example: 8 shows the next menu cascades to a 8-port switch. Press <Enter> key to enter the control menu of the cascaded switch, the screen shows the computer name of the lower level. The computer name shows on the up right corner of the menu. This function make the group management and the monitor of the group easy. 

   The eye legend（）at right the computer name shows the computer is monitoring the scan situation.  Use F2 to turn on/off this menu function. 

   Press <Escape> key to exit the menu, return to computer screen. The name of computer shows on the screen. 

   Function key <F1>: edit the computer name with up to 14 letters.

   First, use “↑”、“↓”key to move the mouse to the name of computer port that need to be renamed，press F1key，enter the computer name. the valid letter is A’～‘Z’、‘1’～‘9’and‘——’。小写字母变为大写字母，one letter can be erase when press <Backspace>once。The edited name can be saved in the computer，it will not be changed when the power is shut down. It can be changed again if necessary. 

   Function key F2: set or cancel the computer scan 

   First, sue <↑>and <↓> key to move the mouse to choose the computer，then press F2 key to start or cancel the scan. If‘Ready PC＋’is chosen as scan mode，it will scan the computers that are turned on or these show‘’legend sequentially. 

   Function key F3, set or cancel the password. Lock to the computer to be operated. 

   use“↑”、“↓”to move the mouse to the desired computer name, press F3 to lock the computer，then input 4 letters（‘A~Z’、‘1~9’、‘－’） , press <Enter> to confirm, a new password is inputted. legend（）is shown after the name of the locked computer. To remove the lock password permanently, move mouse, press F3 and enter password. If you need to enter the locked computer temperately, move mouse then press <Enter> key, Menu will require you enter the password. When you switch to another computer, this computer will be locked automatically. Under the scan mode, the menu will skip the computer with password protected. 

   Function key F4: more function setting up. 

   Press F4, screen will show the following multifunction to be chose:

   Triangle legend follows most of the functions. It shows there are more functions to be chosen. Use “↑”、“↓” key to choose the function  and press <Enter> to confirm, the chosen function will be shown on the center of the screen. Then use “↑”、“↓”key to choose again and press <Enter> to confirm. You can press <Backspace> at any time to exit the menu.

   Auto scan: under this mode, KVM will automatically switch to the sequent computer that is on with the set up time.  Under this mode, menu shows the computer name that is chosen. If the auto scan found the keyboard or mused is under suing condition, the scan will be stopped, until the keyboard and the mouse stops using. After that it will scan the sequent computer automatically. Double click the left <Ctrl> or any switch bottom you can exit the auto scan mode.        The time space to switch from one computer to the next one is decided by the set scan time.

   Manuel scan: Use keyboard to control the computer that is on sequentially.

   Scan type       use “↑”to chose the last computer and use “↓” to choose the next computer. The manuel scan can be stopped by pressing any key.

   Multimedia module

   Multimedia module can be selected to connect to the “Link” port of KVM. It can switch the signals between that of speaker and microphone. The Multimedia module can be turned on or off. If it is turned on the voice signal will be switched along with the switching of computers. If it is off, the voice signal will not be switched along with the switching of computers. You can listen voice from one computer while operating another computer. The setting of Multimedia module will be saved to the memory. 

   Scan type:

   ‘Ready PC＋’：only scan the computers that is on or ‘’legend

   ‘Ready PC’：only scan the computer is on. 

   ‘ Only’：only scan the computer with ‘’legend, whether the computer is on or off. 


   Scan type will be saved to the memory 


   Scan speed

   Under auto scan mode, there are 4 speed choices available: 3, 8, 15 and 30 seconds.

   The setting of scan speed will be saved to the memory. 

   Keyboard response speed

   The keyboard typing speed can be set on KVM to replace the setting on computers’ BIOS and Windows. 4 speed choices are available: ‘Low’、‘Middle’、‘Fast’‘Faster’means 10,15,20 and 30 letters/ seconds. The setting of keyboard typing speed will be saved to the computer. 


   Hot key menu switch:

   If the menu is on, when you double click left <Ctrl> within 2 seconds, the  hot key operation menu will be appeared on the screen. If the menu is off, the hot key operation menu will not be shown.

   The setting of hot key will be saved to the memory. 

   The display of connection situation: 

   Auto off: while the computer is selected, the number of ports and the computer name wil be shown on the screen for 3 seconds, then disapprar. Always show: the number of ports and the computer name or OSD situation will always show on the screen.

   The setting of the display of connection situation will be saved in memory. 

   The position to display the connection situation  

   The position to show the OSD menu on the screen during the operation: 

   This real position be decided by the VGA resolution of the computer. The higher the resolution, the higher the display position.

   The setting of position to display the connection situation will be saved to the memory.

   Hot Key <Escape>：Press <Escape> to exit OSD menu.

   Hot key command

   Hot key command: through hot key to issue the commands to switch computer, active the scan program etc.

   When double click left <Ctrl>, the hot key menu will appear, it is just like the function of F4.

   Left Ctrl: is the <Ctrl> key at the left side of the keyboard.

   1~8/A~H: the number key and letter key on the key board. The number keys on the right side of the keyboard do not work.

1. switch computer with hot key: First confirm the connection port that the computer is connected to. 1-8 or A-H stand for the correspondent PC connection port position number on back panel of the master that the computer connected to. If the computer  is connected to the port of slave KVM, 2 characters are need to show the position. The 1st character stand for the 1-8 of the ports, the 2nd character shows the port number of salve KVM (1-8 or A-H). Attention: only the 1-8 ports can connected to slave KVM.

    For example: Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋7: Choose the computer that connected to the 7th port of Master

  Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋6＋C：choose the computer connected to port C ofslave KVM that is connected to the 6th port of master KVM.

2.  Turn on the auto scan: scan the computers sequentially with set interval.

   For example: Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋F1, when the auto scan find the keyboard or mouse is under using, the auto scan will be postponed temperately, until the keyboard or mouse is stop using. It will restart the scan from the sequent computer. The interval of the auto scan is adjustable. If you double click left <Ctrl> , it will exit auto scan mode.

   Attention: scan type decides if the computers with ‘’legend displayed during the scan

3. Under manual scan mode, you can swift forward or backward among the computer that is on.

         For example: 

 Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋F2，press“↑、↓”key you can choose the next or last computer sequentially. You can exit the manual scan by press any other key 按顺序选择前面的和后面的计算机。按其它键就可以退出手动扫描

   Attention: scan type decides if the computers with ‘’legend displayed during the scan  

4. Adjust scan speed: during the scan is in progress, the scan speed is adjustable. It can set the time interval to swift to the next computer.

   For example: Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋F3， 1~4 toot of KVM stand for the time interval is 3,8,15,30, second correspondently.  

5. Adjust the typing speed (characters/second) to replace the BIOS setting of computer operation system

         For example: 

   Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋F4，1~4 toot of KVM stand for the typing speed is 10,15,20,30, characters/second correspondently. 
 

6. Multimedia module can be selected to connect to the “Link” port of KVM. It can switch the signals between that of speaker and microphone. The Multimedia module can be turned on or off. If it is turned on the voice signal will be switched along with the switching of computers. If it is off, the voice signal will not be switched along with the switching of computers. You can listen voice from one computer while operating another computer.  

  Left Ctrl＋left Ctrl＋F5，KVM发出的1~2kind of toot of KVM stand for the different Multimedia module is on or off correspondently.

   After using the KVM, when it is to be closed, close the screen panel first, then release the lock set. The detail release process is: press the white color release button, then relax, it can release the lock set, pull the equipment side along the guider into the rack, lock it (see illustration 5) 

4 Cascade

If more PCs or servers are needed to be controlled, it can be achieved by cascading matched KVM switch. (see illustration 6)

• Please use the attached cascade cable of the switch.
• Please supply power by using the attached adaptor of the switch. 
• Please use the cascade switch that suit to this equipment.
• One end of the cascade cable connected to the KVM cascade input end, the other end connected to the control port of switch 。
• Repeat the above process to cascade more switch. The maximal cascade levels are 2. 
• For 8-port KVM, each port can be cascaded to the sublevel, it can support up to 2 sublevels. That means up to 64 PCs or servers can be connected. 
• Fro 16-port KVM, only the 1-8 port can support cascade. A-H port can only be connected to PC or servers directly. Up to 2 sublevels can be connected, that means up to 136 PCs or servers can be connected.
• User can select the way of cascade per the number of PCs or servers need to be controlled.

5 Attention points & handling of breakdown

5.1 Attention points

1 This switch use 100～240V  AC power. The cable should be high insulation 3 in 1 to ensure the best signal quality. 3,5,10meters long cables is optional.

2  To avoid the problem of keyboard and mouse may happen during working, if there is 3-phase power supply in the building, please make sure the computer and monitor is on the same phase. To achieve the best quality, should be on the same circuit for the best.

3 Only the original cables supplied by our company can be used. Any damage lead by the using cables from the user is not included in our quality warrantee.

4 To avoid the potential damage lead by the power supply, please pay attention to the following points:

(1). Please do not use the 2-core power extension in the setting of the equipment. (That means mush use the socket outlet that with properly grounding)

(2). Please test to confirm the AC power socket outlet that connect the computer and KVM have the same polarity and grounding).

(3). When UPS is used, please connect the computer and KVM to the UPS

5 The warrantee period of this production is 1 year.

5.2 handling of breakdown

1. Problem: screen has no picture 

• If the power indicator is off, please check if the the power cable is connected properly.
• If the power indicator is red, please check if the VCG cable is properly connected, at the same time, please check if the computer is on or if is in sleeping situation.
• If the power indicator is green, please check if the line synchronization is out of range.

2.Problem: mouse/keyboard out of work

• If the  Num Lock indicator of keyboard is off but the screen is normal, please check if the computer is hang-up, test the PS/2 port that connects the keyboard/mouse cable with computer is properly connected.

3.Problem: Picture unstable ( clutter, flutter etc.)

Please check if the refreshing frequency is match with that of this equipment (The best resolution for this equipment is 1024*768   60Hz）
